Be part of the project

The growth of Pass the Mic will involve training and development opportunities for women of colour in Scotland and paid commissions.

You don’t have to be an aspiring journalist, you don’t have to have experience of writing or being interviewed by media. This is about increasing the number of women of colour heard from across our media; as experts, as commentators, as citizens.

The project wants to work with you, regardless of what level of experience you have. The project also has funded ring-fenced to pay women of colour for media content (such as short video interviews) and comment pieces which will be in newspapers, magazines or online publications with our media partners (to be accounced). If you sign up for this, you will need to provide one (potentially 2) article(s) (depending on the media partner this can be anything from 450 – 850 words) and this will be published at some point over the next 10 months).

So, get involved. There are 3 ways:

  1. Be a listed expertJoin the expert list and be available for media to get in touch.
  2. If you’re not ready to be on the list but want to benefit from the training and webinars through this project – then drop us a line.
  3. If you would like to be a paid commentator – we are looking for 20 women. APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED.
